We know many of you are still patiently waiting and we’re grateful for your support. Things have taken longer than anticipated, and understandably there have been more requests for a general update, so here’s the latest on where things stand and what to expect next.
The defect rate of the updated Instafloss model has remained very low, even as we’ve ramped up production. This gives us strong confidence in our manufacturing process, so we have continued to ramp up production.
Scaling up has taken longer than anticipated (of course, Hoftstadter’s Law rears its ugly head), but new units are being produced every day. To keep shipping costs reasonable, we wait until we have enough units for a cost-effective shipment before sending out containers. The great news is that we have reached a large enough quantity of units and a batch of Instafloss units is leaving the factory as we speak!
If you are part of this batch, you should have received an email today (please search for “Your Instafloss is ready! Please confirm” and be sure to check your spam folder). If you haven’t received this email your unit isn’t in this batch, but worry not — production is accelerating. Each batch is going out faster than the last. The shipment after this one should be ready in just a few weeks, the one after that will likely go out two weeks later, and the following batch could ship just a week after that. While these are estimates, of course, they reflect the increasing pace of fulfillment. With so many incredible backers supporting this campaign, we’re scaling up very carefully to ensure quality and, so far, it’s going great with the updated units.
As we’ve come to a conclusion in the development and testing of the updated Instafloss, and all that’s left now is to manufacture the units (which we are now finally doing at a rapid pace), there won’t be any more manufacturing “updates” as such. We will still update you, our backers, on all cool new developments as they happen, but they won’t be the manufacturing updates regarding the backer units anymore. In the immediate and near-term future, we will continue pumping out units and getting them to your doorstep, much like how Instafloss will pump out water and get them to your gums. With each batch that comes out, we will send another batch of emails confirming the addresses of those we’re ready to ship to. So keep an eye out for an email from us over the next month or two.
