September Manufacturing Update: Sneak Peek at the Quick Start Guide

Hi Friends,

Let’s kick things off with an update on the woes regarding the cylinder liner. We shared that we were having issues with the cylinder liner way back in May and now have been testing the newly molded parts. They’re looking good - but we won’t say the issue is fixed until we’re done with our long term tests.

Right now here at Instafloss HQ, as part of those long-term tests, there are Instafloss running all day long. Next month we’ll let you know how the test results look. As it stands now, we’re still on track for November.

With November coming closer and closer, we’ve begun the process of ensuring all the little details of manufacturing are taken care of. These finer points will make a big impact on your experience using Instafloss. A prime example is the Quick Start Guide which will ship with each unit. We’ve been working on a draft, and rather than complete it in a vacuum, we’d love to share it with you, and get your thoughts.

View the Quick Start Guide.

There’s still time to edit the manual, so let us know in the comments below what your thoughts on it are.

Hi, How do I know which batch my order will ship in? I placed my order 2/2022.

Your unit will ship with the second batch, which we hope to finish by the end of this year. We’ve posted our October update with more details on that :)

Hello, I put my order in January of 2021 and still haven’t received it. I saw that batch 3 is shipping. When should I expect my order?

Hello Gulsah,

Thanks for your question! As of yet, the first two batches (of which your order is a part) have not been shipped. We hope to ship them by the end of this year, but there’s a chance that it will be in Q1, 2023. If you haven’t got the chance to do so yet, we’ve posted our October update <https://instafloss.com/blogs/news/october-manufacturing-update-pilot-product-run-progress> with more details on this :)

The Quick Start guide looks good. Will there be general maintenance instructions? Are they needed?

Thanks for your question, Daniel! The mouthpieces should be replaced every three months to ensure the most effective floss, and the machine should be used regularly so water is being regularly flushed through the system. However, if water is allowed to stagnate, the reservoir is dishwasher safe. We will post more information in the form of blog posts as we begin delivery :)

In everything I’ve read for the past 2 years and the documentation I looked over, there is nothing I’ve read about how to clean it and anything addressing leaking. I preordered two years ago so I’ve been watching this for a while.

Would you be able to make a most addressing these items or point me to where I missed the posts or documentation already out there?

Thanks.

Hello Wayne,

Thanks for your question! The mouthpieces are encased in an antimicrobial silicone jacket that will keep them sanitary, and they should be replaced every three months. They can be rinsed between uses, like a toothbrush head. The reservoir is dishwasher safe, should you want to clean it more thoroughly, but the large amounts of water flushing through the system should keep it clean as well (so long as it is used somewhat regularly and the water isn’t allowed to stagnate).

We will post more about this as we begin delivery :)

I ordered an Instafloss and 2 mouthpieces in Sept of 2021 – will I be in the group that will hopefully get their flossers in November?

Yes you will, Rebecca :) We’ve only updated the batch 3 shipping info in the beginning of last month after batch two sold out.
